Remove personal details from a spreadsheet before you use an AI assistant
An AI assistant can group feedback, find patterns and summarize a spreadsheet. It does not need the real names, email addresses and account numbers in it. DataAttendant replaces those values in your browser, and you review the protected copy before you share it.
What the assistant needs, and what it does not
| Field | Before | What happens | Protected copy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customer | Idris Kowal | Stable pseudonym | CUSTOMER_001 |
| idris.kowal@example.com | Keyed hash | EMAIL_8e41b07c2d93fa56 | |
| Feedback | Delivery was two days late and the box was damaged | Keep | Delivery was two days late and the box was damaged |
All values are invented.
How to do it
Open your file
Open a CSV, TSV, text, Excel, JSON, JSON Lines or XML file. It opens in your browser.
Review what was found
DataAttendant proposes a type for each column, such as Email address or Person name. Nothing changes until you accept it.
Choose what happens
Pick a treatment for each type of value, then check the preview of the protected copy.
Share, then restore
Give the protected copy to the assistant. Paste its answer into Restore to put original values back where the treatment allows it.
What to know
- DataAttendant cannot find everything. Review the preview and the list of what remains before you share.
- A protected copy can still identify someone.
- Keyed hashes and redactions cannot be restored. Stable pseudonyms and reversible encryption can.
- Restoring works only in the browser that holds your protection keys.
Ready to share a protected copy?
Open a file, choose what happens to each column, and review the result before you share it.
